Right side: she must wear what her husband or society will force her to wear.
Left side: she can dress as she pleases, she can wear whatever she wants whereever, whenever. 
Sometimes they wear what society & hubbies wants.

The difference is that the woman on the left decided to dress like that while the one on the right does that or else get beaten.

Thats not right, in Islam it's not allowed to force someone to cover himself. 90% of muslim women cover themselves because they believe and because it's their own choice. But you only see what islam-hating media wants you to see. There are few dumb people who force their women to do so but you can find idiots everywhere. And i don't think you know why muslim women cover themselves? Let me tell you, they cover the parts that make them "sexy" for men, so that men don't look at women only to satisfy themselves. The personality of a women is her beauty not her appearance.

PS: I'm not a fan of burka and covering everything, even the face. But it's a free world. Everyone does what he thinks is the most comfortable for him.

It depends. Sometimes, there are women who dress like that, just because they want to. I don't why you would run around like that, but hey, my that's just my opinion.

Joelle Oneissi: They are also obliged to NEVER take a husband, date or talk to a man. They are married to God. Unlike muslim women. Also, they become nuns by free choice, something which the Qur´an does not allow for the muslim women.

You know what's the secret behind the muslims wail? It's because everything valuable is covered, diamonds, gold and other minerals. oil, everything. The western world is sick of all those naked bitches walking around with AIDS an other sexually transmitted illnesses, whereas our women are clean. Why? It's simple. They only have sex with their husbands and not with every guy they meet in a bar. It's not that you care so much how our women are dressed, but you want to see them undressed just like your bitches. Well, I am sorry to tell you, but muslim women are queens and not bitches to play with.

I did not call all the non muslim women "bitches". I said there are a lot of them in the non muslim societies. How can you describe a bitch ? Simply. I think a lot of people are too stupid to understand this drawing.. "Western women have a choice" well not so much, if you consider the pressure around them. A woman might think they won't find someone to love if they don't fit the pattern of the sexy girl set by the society. But this pressure isn't only coming from men, it comes from women themselves as well....

how is it alot more freedom? you face the same 'amount' of social pressure. All I know is that I am sure that there are not just muslim ladyies but other ladies from other religions who cover themsleves somewhat like muslim ladies because of religious reasons too. AND YES some of us muslim girls CHOSE to dress that way just like some of you girls CHOSE to dress that way.

Of course some other religions have covering clothes, but this is not the point of the drawing here. So don't try to turn this as if anyone said something bad about muslims cause it's not true.

"Free will" is (mostly) a lie. Why do you think people who live close together (as in cultures or nations) look and dress alike? Because they all suddenly decided to do so? Culture is a mechanism that removes a part of your free will. This is not necessarily bad, but it also means one is not always worse than the other. There are extremes in BOTH cultures! Some women "decide" to wear sexy clothing, because they think they're worthless if they do not fit into what our culture considers "beautiful" and "sexy". Same works the other way round. There are women who will cover themselves because they think they're worthless if they do not fit the religious ideal. But then again, there are lot and lots of women who do these things because they want to, for other reasons than this.

Well, I don't see any stupid Christians forcing their women to wear sheets. I don't see any stupid Jews or Buddhists or atheists forcing their women to wear sheets. I think the case regarding who's dumb can now be closed :)

May be most of them won't be stoned to death, but they will be persecuted, treated as whore. That's sad enough.

The difference being that the woman on the left isn't required by law/religion to wear what she's wearing. 
inb4: I respect all faiths and beliefs, don't assume I'm some bigot, I'm just pointing out that the woman on the left, if she wished, could wear trousers and a shirt and no man would say she shouldn't be wearing that.

Joelle Oneissi Not every part of the Islamic world is as strict as others, and I respect that. I never said they were. But there are still parts of the world where women are required to wear burkas. Granted, it's not as bad as it once was but in some parts of the world there is still pressure on women to wear them.

My comment was never meant to offend, however. It was simply meant to point out that the woman on the left is wearing what she wants to because she wants to wear it. She hasn't been told to walk around in what equates to underwear. I was pointing out the ridiculousness of the point made in the strip, not attempting to undermine any religion.

I'll be the first to agree that sex is used to sell way too much and that there is a kind of pressure on women to look their "best" (although walking around everywhere in a bikini/skimpy clothes is not my idea of 'best'). But any self-respecting woman can choose to ignore said pressure.

What is this picture meant to accomplish? To show Islamic women and western women have equal freedom and that it's just a different way to look at it? Look at Islamic countries, there is such a big difference in womans rights and equality if you compare it to the western world. This is just a naïve form of cultural relativism. And why is sexual restriction such a big thing in Islam (in other religions as well) anyway? Looking at a woman with lust is perfectly natural and it is ridicilous to deny that by covering up your women. Just as ridicilous as all the other sex-related issues in Islam like the prohibition of birth control and sex before marriage. And why believe in God in the first place? Stop postulating a deity and taking all that crap on faith, use your rational minds to look for scientific answers and accept the fact that some questions remain unanswered. That way faith in humanity COULD be restored.

I'm really starting to get pissed off... No, Islam is not just some other type of civilization - It is precisely the opposite, the LACK of civilization :) And no, the women under Islam are not a even remotely as content as anywhere else, they're frikking oppressed and barely more than slaves ;) So, sometimes, being politically correct is not the right way and this is exactly that instance - Islam is a serious problem and its influence has to be curbed, end of story :)

So many people hating on Islam, its funny how no one at all sees anything wrong with the girl on the left. Please people get some perspective, and try to be neutral. When Islam came to be, through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), one of his first actions was to liberate the women. In his time if a baby girl was born in a house people would bury them alive or drown them, because they simply couldn't afford to have a daugter, it was a burden since she couldn't work, protect herself etc. 

All the prophets that have ever been sent to earth have been sent with the thought that they should lead the people to a better future. When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) learnt that he would have to lead these people, and he gained influence he told people that females were a gift to a family, not a burden. Whenever a woman entered a room in which he was sit

ting he would stand until she had taken a seat. 

By the way. when did women get the right to vote in the western world? Early in 1900 right? Women had the right to vote in the 600th century.

I'm not saying that its looking good right now for muslim countries. But try to gain some perspective and open your eyes to what you are being told by the media and what is actually the truth. For God's sake, the western world is in war the entire middleeast. Isn't it obivous that if we learned that muslims are actually decent people, normal people, then we wouldn't not only not support the war, cuz alot of people don't do that, but we would go even further than that.

Malcolm X said "I am glad that I met Islam before I met the muslims." And he was right, a lot of muslims are bad people but then again a lot of muslims are good people. The point is, if you want to learn the truth about Islam you have to read the book, the Quran, don't judge the religion by its followers.

I still can't follow this train of thought you guy guys have.. Everyone on 9gag sound like they have a wank to science at least once a day. So those of you that actually DO know something about science and dont just talk shit, you should know that the more variables you have the closer your conclusion would be to the truth. In that case wouldn't it be logical to read the Quran yourself instead of basing such conclusions on superficial facts that you have learned from the internet or CNN or whatever?

In Islam we don't have to cover up, women don't have to cover up her faces, it is also unliked to cover it up, the only thing women have to do is cover up their hair and body....not their faces, its like a stereotype that every one thinks that we as muslims have to wear like that but its untrue. How would you like me to say stuff that aren't true about you're religion?

This refers to the fact that the woman on the left dresses like that so she can attract men, and the woman on the right is dressed like that because her husband or father decided that she should dress like that, so in both cases it's a society dominated by male culture.

If we live in a male dominated culture I rather be free to wear what I want, even if that means having men stare at my junk.

So basically shes not a tramp showing the entire male dominated culture her boobs, ass, etc! to me its like the girl on the Left is crying for attention and for someone to crave her.

If you had two boxes, where one clearly states what it contains in it´s label, and the other box which is wrapped up in dark or brown paper,and it has a sign that says, "NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, DO NOT OPEN THIS BOX!!" ....which one you´d open? The box which says it containts boring office supplies, or the surprise box all wrapped up?

Yeah. I think 90% of the people would go for the surprise box.

well , it gives the "BOX" the chance to choose only one "opener" , while the other "BOX" is free for any one to open , which box has more freedom ?!

both boxes can be opened by only one person who finds it, like any real box. Or in the case of the "surprise box", I suppose there can be 4 openers at the same times, right? (= a muslim man is legally able to marry 4 wives at the same time)
