Nelson Mandela helped to coalesce a generation of South Africans raising their voice for justice. His struggle was tremendous. After enduring prison, persecution and violence, the movement to which he dedicated his life ended the discriminatory and iniquitous system of apartheid. He became the father of a new nation that dignifies the voices of all its citizens.
"President Mandela exemplified what one voice can accomplish when its message is strong enough to touch the hearts of others," said Hugh Evans, CEO of The Global Poverty Project. "While we are deeply saddened he is no longer with us, we know that the power of his message will be carried forward by his foundation and his children."
His legacy will continue to serve as an inspiration.
