Chinese artist, Ai Weiwei was ranked top as the most influential artists 2011, MagazineArtReview . Magazine ArtReview also publishes a hundred other people. Here are the top five list.

1. Ai Weiwei (China)

Ai Weiwei created the art installation of sunflower seeds at the Tate Gallery, London. He is known for his ambition on large-scale projects such as the Bird's Nest stadium for the Beijing Olympics. Ai Weiwei, 51, is known as the Chinese contemporary artists. He was the son of one of the famous Chinese poet, Ai Qing.

He studied at the Beijing Film Academy before becoming the founder of a group called "Stars".But he was also known as a critic of the communist government Tingkok. He writes a blog that was closed when he published names of students who died in the 5835 Sichuan earthquake of 2008. Ai Weiwei was languishing 81 days in jail on charges of "economic crimes", but many observers say the punishment was because he was too outspoken.

2. Hans Ulrich Obrist (Switzerland) and Julia Peyton-Jones (UK)

ArtReview magazine named the two artists as a "dynamo curator". They are the artists behind the Serpentine gallery, London. Obrist first present as a guest curator at the Serpentine in 1995. But then he was becoming full curator in 2006 and worked with Peyton-Jones to make Sepertine as a center of contemporary art discussion. Peyton-Jones became director of the Serpentine since 1991 and he also set up a pavilion gallery featuring the works of architecture such as Frank Gehry, Oscar Niemeyer and Daniel Libeskind.

3. Glenn D Lowry (United States)

Lowry is the director of the Museum of Modern Art New York since 1995. He led 750 employees and is active in exhibitions and publications. Under his leadership, the museum is getting major work such as Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, and Louise Bourgeois. The museum also organizes major exhibitions including: Forty years and Mattisse Picasso.

But critics say it increases the cost of admission to the museum from U.S. $ 20 to U.S. $ 25 this year. But the museum remains confident the visitors can receive prices keep rising after seven years.

4. Larry Gagosian (United States)
